Leave .020″ of the brown phenolic before gluing on the replacement tip. SHAFT MAINTENANCE. To clean your Poison shaft, use a towel slightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. After cleaning, use a leather burnisher or similar material to seal the shaft. Using a Carnuba wax may also help to seal the shaft and protect it from moisture.
Having a hard leather or phenolic tip on your break cue is crucial for a good solid break. Never replace your break cue tip with anything other than another hard leather or phenolic tip. Doing so defeats the purpose of having a designated break cue. The size of your cue tip is another consideration, click here to learn what the pros use. The
Assuming it's a hybrid resin leather tip like the Samsara, once it's textured well, it should hold chalk well for a LONG time without any maintenance. I'd avoid using a tip pik though, and shape and scuff with sandpaper instead, especially for a resin impregnated leather like the Samsara. The shape you choose depends on your game, how straight

Leather tips are better for control, but Phenolic tips, which are harder, are better for power and/or lift when jumping.
